Find Your Poise: It Makes All the Difference

Parenthood leads to a lot of changes. Some that we anticipate, and a lot that we do not. Many of the surprises are wonderful aspects of life with children, and others... well... aren't. Light bladder leakage being a very common (and very overlooked) problem experienced by expectant and postpartum mothers.

I remember the first time I experienced light bladder leakage. I was halfway through my pregnancy with my son, now 3-years-old, and I went from being fine to suddenly having the urge to pee right away. I sprinted to the bathroom as fast as could possibly be expected of someone who was 5 months pregnant, but it didn't matter. I didn't make it quite fast enough to avoid a little leakage. I was so embarrassed, and I had hoped it was a one-time thing. Unluckily for me, that wasn't the case. The hormonal changes of pregnancy had given me the lovely blessing of light leakage. Yay, lucky me! It was both embarrassing and extremely frustrating. Something I took for granted developed into a chore I constantly had to think about. Uh-oh, am I going to sneeze? When did I last pee? If I had a little leakage today, would it show through my clothes? I felt like a teenager getting used to my monthly cycle all over again, only it somehow felt worse! I was even modifying my behavior and habits to avoid situations that may lead to leakage and end up embarrassing me. In my case, I no longer had an issue with light bladder leakage once I had my son. My hormones settled down and everything went back to normal. Okay, almost back to normal. What my midwife refers to "baby belly jelly" never quite went away, and I've come to accept that it probably won't ever. I can laugh about it now as another fun aspect of pregnancy, but light bladder leakage isn't a walk in the park, and it doesn't always go away. Don't let LBL run your life! Wherever life will lead you, Poise will be there.

Poise Very Light Absorbency Liners and Poise Maximum Absorbency Pads provide the coverage you need to continue to lead the healthy, active lifestyle you love without any of the worry. I have many friends and family members that live with light bladder leakage, and while it's not something I currently experience, I know all too well it may be something that can develop years down the road. I'm so glad I know about these great Poise products that will help me continue to do everything I love both indoors and outdoors. Hiking is one of my favorite activities to participate in with my husband and with friends. Thanks to the light bladder leakage management products from Poise, I know I have great products to use to keep me doing the things I love no matter what!

10 Great Things for Baby Every Home Should Have

Found Frolicking is proud to partner with Gerber Good Start and #formulaforhappiness today. Helping you create a better home for baby and find the formula for happiness!

So we all know that babies require the essentials---diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets, and all that good stuff. But beyond that, what else makes the cut? When I had my son, Little E, three years ago, it was quite a learning experience. Despite growing up with four younger siblings, I quickly realized I felt very out of practice. Now, with a second child to add to the mix, I was pleasantly surprised that it hasn't been as chaotic as I'd feared. We try to get out on a daily basis, especially for the benefit of my busy toddler. However, there are a lot of days where we are stuck at home, whether it's because someone is sick or because chores have piled up (literally and figuratively!). Those are the days where what you have at home matter more than ever. I remembered a lot of things I didn't have with Little E that I wished I had, and also kept track of the things that I thought we'd need... but simply didn't.

I want to help you find the formula for happiness for your home! Which is why I'm sharing my list of 10 things that are great for baby which you may not have, but I think make a great choice for every home during the first months with baby and beyond.

Humidifier. I would recommend a warm/cool mist humidifier as an absolute must-have for every household. A humidifier can help create the ideal conditions in the air to help baby sleep more soundly at night, and you'll be thankful to have it on hand when your little one (or little ones!) get sick. The humidity can help them breathe more easily, and prevent nosebleeds that can be caused by dryness and other environmental factors. You can also add a few drops of essential oil for some additional benefit. Peppermint essential oil or lavender oil are a few great options.

Wipes warmer. Unless you live in a climate that's warm year round, to the point where your home is always the perfect temperature (and if you do, lucky you!), chances are your home can be a little cool or even drafty some of the time. The first time I saw a wipes warmer while shopping for baby products, I thought, "What an absurd idea!" But, the joke was on me. It only took me being peed on a few times (a few too many times, if I do say so myself) to realize that the wipes were too cold for my baby. I made the investment, and still maintain that it's some of the best money I've ever spent. My little one went from not only peeing on me through many diaper changes, but also crying through many diaper changes, to being quiet and content throughout the process during each change.

Colorful toys. Everyone has at least a few toys for their baby, but there's one big thing I've noticed about my own babies while they were very little, and even other babies from my observations. Although we are naturally attracted to pastel colors for baby products, babies love bright colors. When I swapped out most of my son's pale and dainty colored toys for vibrant ones, he showed much more interest in observing and interacting with them. Having learned my lesson, I skipped buying any pastel-colored toys for my daughter, and sure enough she shows a preference for the brightly-colored toys as well over the "baby colored" toys that she's received as gifts.

Sensory toys. Color certainly isn't all there is to toys! It's also important to make sure that there's a good variety in shape and especially texture among your child's toys. Having a range of wooden, fabric, and plastic toys that offer various textures will provide a lot of stimulation and intrigue infants especially.

Board books. Babies are never too young to be introduced to reading! Reading to your little one or looking at picture books with them and telling them the names of the objects is a great way to interact with your child, and also teach them about the world around them. If they're very young, talking is still months away for them, but hearing you say things and look at them will be invaluable as they grow and are developing their skills to speak, and harnessing their skills to identify objects. You can expand their horizons by having a good variety of board books, and not having a limited collection on only one or two topics. Many libraries allow parents to get a library card for their children, and going to the local library is a great way to introduce your little one to new topics and expand their horizons.

Soft area rug. There are a lot of tummy time mats and activity mats on the market. My son had one, and it only kept him entertained for extremely brief periods of time for a few weeks, and then he was over it. With my daughter, I decided to opt for purchasing a large sheepskin rug instead. Just as sensory toys are great for babies, a sheepskin rug is not only a great, soft option for baby, but provides a really great texture, too. As an added benefit, this isn't a "baby" product that my daughter will outgrow and we will end up donating. We'll keep it as a household product for many years to come!

Sound machine. Each baby is different, and some prefer complete silence while they slumber, while others need to hear something is going on even for a brief nap. But most babies do enjoy a sound machine one way or another. Whether they benefit from the soothing sounds when they are in the car, playing at home, or napping, it's a useful thing to have around. There are types designed to be stationed in one spot, and other options for on-the-go. My son's favorite soothing sound is ocean waves, and he asks for it each night before we turn off the light to go to sleep. My daughter on the other hand, seems to prefer the sound of crickets, or baby lullabies. Using a sound machine is much more convenient than using a phone or iPod to play tunes for your little one, since you don't have to worry about any interruptions startling your little one---such as a phone call.

Light projector. I don't know a single child that doesn't love seeing lights on the wall or ceiling. The one my son has projects ripples onto the walls and ceiling, providing a fun and soothing source of entertainment during the day, and as he's going to sleep. My daughter, now 3-months-old, appreciates them too. I've been able to distract and calm her from crying by turning on the projector for her and pointing out the lights to her. There are varieties that have different colored lights, as well as some that offer only white light. But no matter which route you go, you'll probably find your little one of any age being mesmerized, or at least fascinated.

Night light. The last thing you ever want to be doing is stumbling around in a dark room in the middle of the night while you're baby. Even on your way to the light switch. Which is why I highly recommend for the safety of everyone involved, that everyone have a night light. If your little one is extremely sensitive to light when they're sleeping, purchase a night light that has a motion-detector feature so it will only turn on when it senses you moving in the room.

Crystal window ornament. Okay, here me out. Don't worry, I'm not getting hippy dippy on you and suggesting crystals offering "healing properties" or anything crazy. Just like the light projector, dangling crystal ornaments hanging in a window where there's sunlight can reflect rainbow colors onto surfaces around them. They're even more fun when you swing or spin them gently so that the reflecting colors move. Both of my children don't seem to tire for the beautiful display of lights, and any children that we have visiting are always obsessed with playing with it, too!

Performance You Can Count On: Depend Silhouette Active Fit Briefs

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Depend as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review. For more information, please refer to the disclosure that can be found at the bottom of this post.

As a mother, it doesn't take long to discover how demanding it really is in every possible way---emotionally and physically. Constantly running around and getting things done, both literally and figuratively. But having children certainly can take a toll on our bodies. If you experience stress urinary incontinence, you aren't alone. 1 in 3 women in the US live with bladder leakage every day. Common causes of SUI include pregnancy and childbirth. I don't ever recall anyone mentioning that possibility to me when informing me of the types of things I should be expecting post-baby!

Having to live with bladder leakage is bad enough, it's even more frustrating when there isn't a sensible solution to manage it in your every day life. That is, until now. The Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs are everything you've been waiting for and more. These great new briefs are made of a cloth-like fabric that offers comfort, convenience, and sits smoothly under your clothes. They provide a reliable, quality option for women who experience moderate leakage and want to manage it with confidence. The Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs even look like regular underwear!

I've met and have known many women over the years who are affected and live with bladder leakage. They were embarrassed not only to be living with SUI, but also uncomfortable talking about it and how it affected them. Not one of them had found a way to live their lives without allowing their bladder leakage to limit their participation in physical activities. I'm so glad I now have a wonderful product to recommend to any woman I meet that experiences stress urinary incontinence to help them live more confidently and freely. Look for Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs at a store near you. You can also get a coupon to use on your next purchase of Depend Silhouette Active!

Depend is also doing great things to help break the stigma surrounding bladder leakage with the #Underwareness Campaign. Depend will donate $1, up to $3 million, for every photo or video shared using #Underwareness through 2016 to fund charities that research and educate about bladder leakage.

I've used many brands of diapers over the years, and looking for great disposable diapers isn't as easy as you'd think. There have been a lot of messy mistakes (literally!) along the way. I'm so glad to have finally found Huggies® Little Snugglers!

We also want to help you make your everyday life easier with these 5 tips and tricks for organizing your diaper bag. Because the perfect diaper bag doesn't end with the purchase of the bag itself. While I learned these tricks after having my son and trying to figure out a way to best utilize a diaper bag, these tips and tricks easily apply to any purse or even wallet!

1. Establish the essentials. Compose a list to figure out what your essentials are. This will help you establish your must-haves and allow you to decide how much space you really require in a diaper bag for all your needed items. Being aware of the items you need on hand at all times will help you keep tabs on what's in your diaper bag so it doesn't get out of control (losing something in your bag only to find it months, or even a year, later sound familiar?), and make your life easier when you're short on time and don't have time to waste wondering if something may or may not be in your diaper bag. You should always know what the contents of your diaper bag are!

2. Designate locations.
Now that you know what you need in your diaper bag. Great! Next, you'll need to figure out where everything will go. Set up a system that makes sense for you. Everything should have its place. This will save you time and also help keep you organized. Making it easier to use anything in your diaper bag as needed, and much quicker to look over your diaper bag and restock as needed. Items you use the most should always be the easiest to access so you don't have to rearrange your entire diaper bag every time you need to grab it.

3. Keep it efficient. It may be necessary to purchase a few handy products to keep you organized. Whether it's small containers, reusable wet/dry bags, or even plastic food bags, you can find the products you need to utilize your space well, and maintain it in a way that makes sense for your everyday use. For example, most moms would easily benefit from purchasing a key strap for the inside of their diaper bag, which can easily be attached to a loop of the diaper bag strap or another easy-to-grab location. I think we've all been there... Rooting around for your keys which may have wiggled their way to the bottomless depths of your diaper bag, becoming frantic when you can't locate them, and you begin mentally making a list of every place you've been since you last recall using them. You finally drop everything you're doing, and pull everything out of your bag, one by one, desperately hoping you didn't leave them somewhere. You imagine all of the time and energy you'd have to expend in order to retrace your steps of the day to track down where you'd accidentally abandoned your keys. But then, miraculously, you find your keys. Sitting, unsuspecting, at the bottom of your bag. You realize you somehow just missed them and nothing more, and after throwing everything haphazardly back into your diaper bag after all this time you've lost, you're on your way again. Rather than having to relive that scenario over and over again, using a key strap is an easy and efficient way to store your keys. Just pull on the strap and your keys will always be retrieved, even if they do wiggle their way to the bottom of your diaper bag.

4. Stock emergency extras. While not completely essential in everyone's mind, there are some things that come in handy from time to time that can be a good idea to keep packed in your diaper bag: a change of clothes, a small travel size first aid kit, a coloring book and crayons (for the times when your toddler needs a little entertaining but you don't have anything else on hand), travel size baby dish soap, hand sanitizer spray or wipes, and at least one plastic baggy or reusable wet/dry bag.

5. Clean it out. It varies from person to person, but I personally recommend cleaning out your diaper bag at least once per month. All types of things can end up in your diaper bag when you're out and about and in a hurry. Receipts, old toddler snacks, diapers my kids have grown out of, and expired coupons are a few of the things I tend find during clean outs. They certainly aren't the types of things I need living in my diaper bag taking up precious space! Every few months you should also reevaluate the contents of your diaper bag. In the event that your or your child's needs have changes (or you find that there are some items that you thought you'd need but it turns out you don't), you can remove them to create space for more practical items. You can take this time as an opportunity to wash your diaper bag, too. You never know what kind of germs, liquids, or even food can build up on your diaper bag. This will keep your diaper bag sanitary, and looking spiffy!

It didn't take me long to find Huggies® Little Snugglers at my local Sam's Club!

Sam's Club carries a great selection of Huggies diapers in a variety of sizes.

The Huggies® Little Snugglers feature adorable designs.

The sweet Winnie the Pooh design on each diaper adds fun and whimsy.

My daughter is a heavy soaker, but she's met her match: the Huggies® Little Snugglers.

Huggies® Little Snugglers are available in sizes 1-6 to fit your baby as they grow.

The wider, thicker sides to these diapers make them even more comfortable for baby, and contain leaks better.

The very stretchy waistband featured on the Huggies® Little Snugglers are another great feature.

Messes stay well contained thanks to the soft textured interior of the Huggies® Little Snugglers.

The Huggies® Little Snugglers are a baby must-have. Look for them at a Sam's Club near you!

Get Answers and Help at AmWell

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post with Mums the Word Network and Amwell. All opinions are my own.. For more information, please refer to the disclosure that can be found at the bottom of this post.

It's likely to have already happened to you once in the past. Whether you had caught a bad case of the flu, were concerned you had a wound that had become infected, or any other number of issues under the sun... the ER is generally everyone's last resort. The waits can be long, the atmosphere is unpleasant, and it can also be extremely expensive---even if you have health insurance. Even where urgent care facilities are available, the waiting rooms are often full of patients waiting to be seen, resulting in a wait that is easily several hours. Your health concern or condition may very well not be an emergency, but you could find yourself in the ER because your health physician isn't available and that leaves you with very limited options. Amwell may be the answer you are looking for.

Amwell is an online service that allows you to speak with a board-certified physician in your area when you need one. This convenient service lets you reach a physician from the comfort of your own home. You can speak to a health care provider through video, an online chat, or over the phone. Connect with a doctor using your desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or phone---whatever works for you! Signing up for an account takes only minutes, and only has to be done once. Before speaking to a doctor, you provide any details about medical conditions, allergies, body stats including temperature, and anything else you'd like the doctor to know. Each visit is only $49, and may even be partially or fully covered by your health insurance!

For busy moms who already have a lot on their plates, Amwell can save you time, stress, and money. Speaking to a pediatrician or family physician through Amwell to address your concerns about your child can help you find the answers you need and give you peace of mind, without ever having to leave the house. Physicians can even write prescriptions and have them sent to your nearest pharmacy of choice! I spoke to an Amwell family physician to ask about things I could do to ease my daughter's congestion. I am so glad to finally have some suggestions for ways to help her, particularly from a source I can trust. I was extremely impressed with how Amwell is set up. When you sign in, you are immediately taken to a page with online physicians in your area. There were many physicians who were available immediately, and several doctors who had a brief wait time. I chose a family physician who I felt comfortable with, and although she was currently speaking to a patient, I waited only a few minutes. A huge difference from the 30 minutes to as much as 5 hours I've waited to see a physician at urgent care, the ER, or even at my primary doctor's office!

Especially as we are getting into flu season, Amwell provides the perfect resource for seeing a doctor when you aren't up to making it to the doctor's office. You can address your symptoms with them and work together to find the solutions you need to feel better in no time. For a limited time, you can try Amwell for FREE! Get one complimentary visit with the code CARENOW14Get started today with Amwell!
